Most programs make youth wait months for voucher approval before they can move in. We don't. Once their background check clears, we move them in and cover the 4-month voucher wait. Your matched gift makes that possible.

How do I know my gift is being used well?
We hold a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid — the highest level of nonprofit accountability. Every dollar goes directly to housing, mentorship, and wraparound support.
Do AcademySTAY youth pay rent?
Most of our students qualify for a Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) voucher—but it takes an average of 4 months to process.
We don't make them wait for a voucher.
Once a youth passes their background check, we move them in and cover their rent, utilities, and support during the 4-month wait for voucher approval. More than 60% of our applicants are experiencing homelessness when they reach us, and every day on the street increases their risk.
Once a student's voucher is approved, it covers their full rent. If a student isn't eligible for a voucher, they pay $700/month—far below Sacramento's $1,800+ market rate - while receiving life skills training, mentorship, and career support to build toward full independence.
