From the Founder: 10 New Apartments, 1 Prom Night, and a Community That Shows Up

Dear AcademySTAY Community,


May is National Foster Care Awareness Month. It's a month to honor the resilience of young people in care and to recognize the ongoing support they need as they transition into adulthood.

For us at AcademySTAY, this month is deeply personal. The young adults we serve have aged out of foster care without a stable home to fall back on.

But thanks to you, they’re building something new.


Opening 10 New Apartments soon!


We are close to completing renovations on another building of 10 apartments, and will soon be welcoming 20 new residents into safe, supportive housing.

We know housing alone isn’t enough. That’s why your support also fuels groceries, mentorship, and transportation, giving our students the tools to thrive, not just survive.


Big Day of Giving: $11,000+ Raised!


We are blown away by the response to our very first Big Day of Giving.

Because of you, we raised over $11,000! And now:


  • More students will have a stable place to call home. 

  • More will have access to life skills, education, and hope.

  • And thanks to matching gifts, your impact was doubled!


We’re so grateful to everyone who donated, shared, or cheered us on. You’re helping rewrite what’s possible.


Prom is Coming and You Can Help Make It Special


On June 13, we’ll host our very first prom for AcademySTAY residents. Many of whom them never had the chance to attend one in high school.

We’re currently seeking donated men's prom attire, drinks, dinner items, decorations to help make this a night to remember. If you or your organization would like to contribute, please email us at giving@academystay.org.


Volunteer Opportunities – Share a Skill, Change a Life


Our students are eager to grow, and they need trusted adults to guide them. This summer, we’re inviting volunteers to lead one-time or recurring life skills classes, such as:


  • Cooking on a budget

  • Job interview preparation

  • Healthy relationships & boundaries


If you’re interested in teaching or co-leading a session, reach out to stayconnected@academystay.org. Your experience could be the spark that helps a young person succeed.
